Insanity 60 Day Results

Unfortunately after seven weeks of hard work and dedication, I fell a bit behind in the last two weeks of the workout. I had my reasons, though it’s possible they may have just been excuses in disguise. Among them: illness, injury and preparing for an upcoming vacation. Thankfully the injury was short lived, the illness has finally passed and I will be leaving town shortly. But before I do I wanted to quickly post about my Insanity 60 day results for those of you that have been following along with me.

Despite finishing the workout on rather weak terms, I managed to achieve some excellent overall results! So much so, in fact, that I am truly excited at the prospect of starting it all over again in a couple of weeks once I get back from my vacation and settle back in. In the meantime, this post will serve as a detailed breakdown of everything I have accomplished over the past 60 days.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at the numbers…

Pre-Insanity Measurements #

Back in the beginning of April when I began this journey, I took a preliminary set of photos, body measurements and my first ever Insanity fit test. I will save the pictures for the end of this post, but I want to take a minute to look at my numbers from the beginning here.

Fit Test #

On April 8, I recorded the following numbers while completing the fit test:

Switch kicks: 78
Power jacks: 45
Power knees: 70
Power jumps: 20
Globe jumps: 7
Suicide jumps: 8
Push-up jacks: 18
Low plank obliques: 24

Nothing particularly impressive, I guess… The big thing here was the realization of what I was in for. This first fit test wiped me out far more than any other workout routine I had performed in recent years. It was exhausting!

Body Measurements #

That same day I took my first set of body measurements which I have listed below.

Weight: 189 lbs
Chest: 38.25 inches
Waist: 34.75 inches
Hips: 37.125 inches

I had already worked my way down to this weight from as high as 240 lbs over the previous year, so there was nothing horribly concerning here. Still, I wanted to get into significantly better shape. Looking back I wish I had taken the time to get some sort of body composition test done. It would have been great to have a before and after body fat % to compare here as well. Oh well – I guess it is just something to remember for next time!

My Insanity 60 Day Results #

So that’s where it all started. Which brings us to the all-important question on everyone’s mind: what kind of Insanity 60 day results was I able to achieve? Admittedly they aren’t the sort of dramatic results that you see plastered over every single Insanity advertisement, but they were awesome results nonetheless. Keep reading for more details.

Fit Test #

I have put together some handy Insanity 60 day results charts for you all to have a look at. Numbers follow immediately and then a bar chart for those that are more visually inclined.

Let’s look a little closer at that change column and calculate my overall improvement:

Switch kicks: improvement of 36 / started at 78 = 46% improvement
Power jacks: improvement of 15 / started at 45 = 33% improvement
Power knees: improvement of 26 / started at 70 = 37% improvement
Power jumps: improvement of 20 / started at 20 = 100% improvement
Globe jumps: improvement of 5 / started at 7 = 72% improvement
Suicide jumps: improvement of 12 / started at 8 = 150% improvement
Push-up jacks: improvement of 11 / started at 18 = 61% improvement
Low plank obliques: improvement of 32 / started at 24 = 133% improvement

Just… Wow! That is an average improvement of 80%. Incredible!

And now, because everything looks better with a little bit of color, here is that bar chart I promised:

As For My Body Measurements… #

No fancy charts here since there are only a couple of numbers to share:

Weight: 189 lbs starting, 179 lbs final. Total of 10 lbs lost.
Chest: 38.25 inch starting, 37.25 inch final. Total of 1 inch lost.
Waist: 34.75 inch starting, 31.5 inch final. Total of 3.25 inches lost.
Hips: 37.125 inch starting, 35.375 inch final. Total of 1.75 inches lost.
Butt*: 39 inch starting, 38 inch final. Total of 1 inch lost.
* The asterisk is just to let you know that I didn’t actually take my butt measurement until fit test 2 so it likely started a little bigger than this…

For those keeping track, that is over 7 inches and 10 lbs lost!

At this point I should remind you all again that I also measured biceps, thighs and calves. However, I haven’t included these measurements here since I saw little or no change in them when analyzing my Insanity 60 day results. Even so, those measurements are posted on my body measurements page for those that are curious.

Final Thoughts #

So that’s where I am… 63 days, 10 pounds and 7 inches later. Some excellent Insanity 60 day results, if I may say so. And I got to have a lot of fun along the way. Like I said earlier, I plan to come back for round two soon! In the meantime, I will be compiling all of my thoughts to date on the Insanity workout into one complete review of the program, so stay tuned!

Fantastic informative blog, your results are fantastic I’m currently on day 30 I’ve lost 10.5 inches so far and dropped nearly 14lb this fluctuates, I started at 26% body fat and now 22% I’m quite happy with insanity so far, absolutely dreading next week, I heard it gets mega hard. Anyway thanks for sharing your journey it’s really motivated me.

    1. Wow Siobhan those are some awesome results! Month two definitely gets harder but if you’ve made it this far, you should be alright. I’d love hear how it goes though. As for my second round… I will definitely update when I start up again, but who knows when that will be, haha.

      1. Loving all your input. I am reading about each workout and learning a lot as a result of what you have posted. I need to lose 12 lbs in 6 weeks, so in researching I thought the Insanity workouts were my best bet. If you have any suggestions/recommendations/comments on any sequence I should use, your comments would be welcomed. :)
